It was a wet and wild time in New Zealand but we came through with a win on both days, how good!
Kia Ora Auckland!
And we’re off!
The rain is seriously following us
The NZ fans are some troopers! They stuck it out throughout the wet and windy conditions, even when qualifying was cancelled on Saturday.
The Burnout King
SVG won the first race on home soil and gave his local Kiwi bros a taste of what he’s known for, burnouts!
J-Dub follows suit
And then on Sunday, J-Dub follows suit with a burnout down the main straight.
SVG in the zone
Shane was one of the most popular kids on the track this weekend so he took time to focus pre-race.
Winner winner, chicken dinner
And then it all paid off when he won the first race, what a feeling!
J-Dub claims the victory!
Jamie claimed first on Sunday and also took home the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, in honour of the late Jason Richards, a former team mate of Whincup’s.
A fitting tribute
“I was a team-mate of Jason Richards back in 2005, we were good mates, we got up to no good together for a couple of years, so it’s a special moment and it’s one of the biggest accolades of the year.”
Championship leader !
A Sunday win keeps the championship lead in Jamie’s hands and those orange numbers aren’t going anywhere…
No better feeling
