It’s official, we are on our way!
We kicked off the rally this afternoon, leaving the People’s Palace in Glasgow and 15,000 well wishers, bound for Monte Carlo. Over the next three days we will drive non-stop through Scotland, England and France bound for Valence in the south east of France. This will be our first stop for the competitive stages of the rally.
Thankfully the back seat of the FX isn’t too full with equipment, so my team mates Richard and Gary and I will be able to squeeze in some sleep along the way. But, rest assured there is plenty of Redbull to get us through!!
For now though, it’s pedal to the metal to get the FX to the checkpoints within the allotted time. We had a slight problem about half way between Glasgow and London, a very unhappy wheel bearing. After about an hour on the side of the road doing a replacement (the team would have done McGyver proud) we were back on the road.
If you have seen the weather reports for the UK, you will know that there is one word here at the moment … SNOW, and there’s plenty of it! So fingers crossed all goes to plan.
To everyone at home, wishing you a very happy Australia Day. Stay safe and have a great day.
