Red Bull Racing Australia: What do you think this long-awaited season holds for V8 Supercars and Red Bull Racing Australia?
Roland Dane: Hopefully it’s more success, but that’s the big thing about this season – we just don’t know. There are so many imponderables that it’s wide open. So who knows what it holds.
RBRA: How competitive do you expect the cars to be from the outset?
RD: I hope we’re somewhere in the mix, but no one really knows where everyone is going to be, so that’s one of the things that’s going to make it a very exciting season because I think there could be plenty of different winners and different people in the mix.
RBRA: Will the cars be faster than 2012?
RD: think we will probably see some track records broken at some races. It depends on the tyre, if we’re running the hard or soft tyre and how quickly everyone gets to grips with the balance of the car. The cars aren’t massively quicker – we didn’t really want them to be – but they’re a pretty similar pace to last year’s cars.
RBRA: Having a long-time involvement in V8 Supercars, is there a new level of excitement and expectation around this season?
RD: There certainly is for us. It’s the biggest change the category has seen for 20 years, so from our point of view the season has so many unknowns that it is exciting and it’s something that is massively unpredictable, and that makes it good from a spectator and fan point of view.
RBRA: What’s the off-season been like for you?
RD: Very long and hard, so I’m most looking forward to going racing and getting on with what we enjoy the most.
RBRA: What’s the build-up been like in the workshop?

RD: Controlled chaos over the last week or two, but generally pretty good. There have been some late nights and a lot of Red Bull drunk to keep us going.
