Red Bull Holden Racing Team Supercar drivers Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup, along with TeamVortex’s Craig Lowndes, held their final training session on the Torrens Bridge in Adelaide this morning ahead of the Clipsal 500.
Shane Van Gisbergen heads into the Supercars season opener as the reigning Champion.

“Now that I’m in my second year with the Red Bull Holden Racing team we’re aiming for an even stronger start to our season,” said van Gisbergen.

“There’s going to be a lot of fast cars out on the track but our focus will just be on making sure we’re as fast as we can be.”

Teammate Jamie Whincup holds more Clipsal 500 race wins than any other Supercars driver with a total of 10 and holds the most pole positions with a total of seven.

“Red Bull Holden Racing Team is coming off the back of a one-two in last year’s Championship so we want to keep that momentum going,” Whincup said.

“The Clipsal 500 is a demanding track so we’ll be keeping our heads down and concentrating on strategy.”

Craig Lowndes is no stranger to the Adelaide circuit, having driven in every single Clipsal 500 since the inaugural event 1999.

“To be honest, I’m just excited to get out on track and get racing,” Lowndes said.

“This event has always been one of my favourites on the Supercars calendar, the atmosphere from the crowd here is something else.”

The Clipsal 500 is taking place in Adelaide from 2 – 5th March, 2017.
