On May 3 2015 the world will run as one.
The only race where the finish line catches you, the second annual Wings For Life World Run is taking place in Melbourne this year to raise funds for and awareness of spinal cord injury research.
The unique format will see thousands of participants across 35 locations set off at the same time around the world. Unlike other events with a set distance, the Wings For Life World Run is about pushing yourself and your limits as far as you can go, whether that’s five or 50km, until the chaser car catches you and the courtesy bus ferries you back to base for a much-deserved celebration.
The Red Bull Racing Australia team members had their runners at the ready and the six month training programme mapped out, and the enthusiasm was through the roof. That was until the date for the Perth Super Sprint round moved to the same weekend. Gutted.
While this means that the majority of us can’t make it to Melbourne for the run, we still want to represent RBRA in this fantastic cause and event. That’s where you come in! Register now for the 2015 Wings For Life World Run and join the Red Bull Racing Australia team to run for us, to run for yourself and most importantly to run for those who can’t.
Not only will you be running under the Red Bull Racing Australia flag, everyone who joins the team will have their name printed onto the rear wings of the RBRA Holdens for the duration of the Perth event, making you well and truly part of the team.
Jamie took part last year and couldn’t recommend the experience highly enough: “Last year’s World Run was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I genuinely surprised myself at how far I ran and that feeling of achievement is incredible.
“After registering for the run this year and then finding out we’re racing in Perth on the same weekend, I was really disappointed to miss it. I’ll still be cheering on all of my mates and the Red Bull Racing Australia team, and supporting the great work that the Wings For Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation does.”
While Lowndesy is yet to take part in the run thanks to the date change, he’s urging fans to take part, join the Red Bull Racing Australia team and make a difference.
“The work that the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation does is invaluable, as everyone would understand,” Craig says.
“By taking part in the World Run, it’s an opportunity to raise awareness and find a cure for spinal cord injuries. While we can’t make the Wings For Life World Run this year as we’ll be racing in Perth, that’s exactly why we need you to join in.”
Every dollar of every entry fee goes to spinal cord injury research, so sign up today, compete with the world and run for those who can’t. For more information and to join the run, head to www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com
