Jamie inspires Komatsu apprentices ahead of Perth 400

Jamie got geared up for the Perth 400 this weekend by running a mentoring session with 25 Perth-based Komatsu apprentices, taking the time out to meet and mentor the up and coming apprentices and pass on his experience from the importance of working as a team.

J-Dub also challenged the apprentices to set some professional and personal goals for the year and focused on the cross-over skills of problem solving, communication and working under pressure.

“What’s special about the teams relationship with Komatsu is an opportunity to talk to the apprentices and take them through lessons I’ve learnt along the way,” he said.

“V8 Supercar racing is not a single-person sport – without the rest of my team I wouldn’t be able to succeed so it’s great to be able to demonstrate the benefits of teamwork to the apprentices.”

It’s true, the start of the season hasn’t been the smoothest for the reigning champ, as he sits sixth in the championship and 166 points off the top of the ladder.

“We put high expectations on ourselves at Red Bull Racing Australia and we haven’t quite lived up to them at this stage,” Jamie said.

“It’s not all bad though, historically we’ve had a good run in Perth, it’s been a happy hunting ground and hopefully by the end of the weekend we’ve moved back up the championship ladder slightly.”

The Perth 400 is set to take place at Barbagallo Raceway this weekend from the 14th – 16th May.
