Pushing hard at the Australian Grand Prix

It’s been a day of hard racing at the Australian Grand Prix today as Craig and Jamie traded positions across the two races.

The Red Bull Racing Australia drivers finished second and seventh in each of today’s contests on the streets of Albert Park, with Jamie finishing the better of the two Holdens in the first race and Craig getting ahead in the second.

“I think we pushed pretty hard today. In race one I just couldn’t get enough clean air to pull it together,” said Lowndesy.

“At the start of race two the front pack went to the inside, which opened the door for me to get a good, fast run on my racing line.

“Our car was reasonably good from the beginning. We need to find that little bit more for those extra two laps for the two remaining races with 12 laps.”

After a hard-fought battle with the Volvo of Scott McLaughlin in race one, Jamie’s fate was left to the hands of the stewards, his penalty being a five-place grid penalty for the start of race two.

“We’re here to race so I went hard in race one and had some good battles,” commented Jamie.

“I kept in clean in the second race and tried not get any penalties, which we managed to do, but I prefer going hard like we did in the first race.

“Hopefully the sun stays out for tomorrow’s race and the crowd continues to grow, it’s such a great atmosphere here and can’t wait for the rest of the weekend.”

Race three kicks off at 3.25pm AEDT tomorrow.
